Infrared Inspection
Infrared thermography is a non-contact, non-distractive predictive maintenance application.
With an infrared imager thermal patterns of electrical and mechanical components can be seen. This can be done very efficiently and in most cases without interrupting the services.
FAQ
Does equipment need to be turned off during an inspection?
No equipment shutdown is needed. Systems should be operating under normal load. Most electrical equipment has a service interlock that allows access without service interruption.
Do the covers need to be removed?
Yes. Infrared cameras cannot see trough covers or enclosures. It is common for onsite personnel to remove the cover before the inspection.
How often should an inspection be done?
Electrical systems should be inspected at least once a year.
Mechanical Systems should be checked frequently to establish comprehensive trending data.
What is the cost of an inspection?
The cost of an inspection will depend on the size of the job and customer requirements. We can quote jobs by the hour or on a daily rate.
What is the payoff / cost justification of an inspection?
Diagnosing and repairing a problem during a scheduled shutdown before the component fails will save thousands of dollars. One hour of downtime can easily add up to a loss of $10,000 or greater.
How soon will we have a written report of the findings?
The report is normally generated within 24 hours of the inspection. The report includes a list of all inspected items, a list of found anomalies and infrared - visual pictures of each anomaly. Severe findings will be addressed immediately.
